Nathan is the program’s first True Islander, having grown up in Nanaimo, BC: a stone’s throw from Victoria. Growing up in the sleepy town of Nanaimo, he spent much of his time combing the beach looking for moon shells and enjoying the nighttime phosphorescence.
Nathan, while being an avid traveler, has never actually left the Island for his education. He completed his undergraduate degree in Biology at Vancouver Island University, then on to medical school with UBC (the Vancouver Island site) and is now a proud member of the UBC Island Emergency Medicine Residency. This guy just cannot get enough of the Island’s majestic beauty and incredible training opportunities. Besides Emergency Medicine, Nathan is passionate about health advocacy and addiction medicine.
What else should you know about Nathan? He is an avid bird watcher, surfer, passionate guitarist/songwriter, mountain biker, and runner.
