Nick Monfries, Vancouver Site

Nick “the Swag King” Monfries is no stranger to wheeling and dealing. Nick paid his way through undergrad with the profits from a vending machine he owned in his home town of Edmonton (true story). After joining the Vancouver UBC EM program, Nick then turned his entrepreneurial instincts toward the world of conference swag. As an “individual with significant influence on department purchasing”, Nick took ACEP by storm. His collection of company pens, mints, and water bottles is enviable. As the resident who is most likely to perform an emergency department C-section just to see a baby, we keep a close eye on this guy, because he might be poached by the ObGyn or Peds program; but UBC couldn’t be happier to have snagged this resident who is a 1:1 ratio of brains and heart.
