Don’t be fooled, Emma may not have a French accent but she’s definitely from Montréal. As a child, Emma dreamed of being on Broadway. But she discovered she was far more of a nerd jock, had (and still has) an unhinged love of Lego, numbers and all things technical so she did the logical thing and became an engineer, while rowing her way through undergrad.

Her first go at adulting led her to working in the oilfield as a field engineer, working on rigs in Alaska, Northern BC, Alberta, Texas, Colorado and China. She eventually got tired of living in rig-side trailers, and then worked as a management consultant followed by a cool gig at a sports tech start-up bringing affordable cycling power meters to the commercial market.

With a curiosity for the medical world, Emma then went back to the books, obtained a Masters’ degree in biomedical and chemical engineering while pursuing a side passion as a professional road cyclist and dabbling in surgical innovation start-ups. She ultimately got “the call” and traded in her coveralls and business suits for scrubs, moving to Edmonton, where she found herself most at home in the heart of an ED, comforted by the undifferentiated and entranced by the chaos. Given her love of bikes, skiing, swimming, running and occasionally karaoke, she and her dog Paisley are very happy to call Kelowna home and enjoying the many activities with her heroic co-residents who are the snaps and crackles to her pops.
