Welcome to UBC Emergency Medicine! 👋
We’re so glad you’re here. Whether you’re deep into CaRMS research or just starting to explore programs, we hope this site gives you a feel for who we are.
As a provincial program, you’ll train alongside incredible faculty and residents while gaining experience in diverse emergency departments across British Columbia—from busy urban trauma centres to smaller community and regional hospitals. That means lots of opportunities to learn, challenge yourself, and find the kind of emergency physician you want to become.
We’re proud of our academic curriculum, but what really makes our program special is our people. Our residents are curious, supportive, and genuinely fun to be around. They work hard, celebrate each other’s successes, and make the most of every learning opportunity (while still finding time for adventures outside the hospital).
No matter which site you call home, you’re part of one UBC Emergency Medicine family. Each community has its own personality, strengths, and traditions, but we’re connected by a shared commitment to excellent training, kindness, and having each other’s backs.
Take a look around, and if you have questions or just want to chat, we’d love to hear from you. We hope you’ll come see for yourself what makes UBC Emergency Medicine such an exciting place to train.
Sincerely,
Dr. Tina Yokota
RCPSC-EM Program Director
