Eva joins us with a bit of mileage under her belt as she was born in Germany, lived in California, and then moved to Toronto to complete a double major in neuroscience and psychology. From there, she moved yet again for her medical school training at Queen’s University and then looked across the country to Victoria for her residency training. When Eva is not flying to new schools and destinations, she is actively pursing her interests in equity and access to care, global health, and women’s health.
Eva’s commitment to the emergency medicine doctrine expands even into her hobbies, as she describes herself as a bit of a jack of all trades. When she’s not pumping TLC’s “No Scrubs” or Harry Styles’ “Watermelon Sugar” on her way to work, she likes to hike, go backcountry camping with her dog, and throw elaborately themed parties. She’s also really gotten into niche hobbies like sabering bottles of bubbly and even has a saber with her name engraved in it!
When asked which animal Eva most relates to, she replied, “Dolphin, [because they are] social but prefer their people/pods. Surprisingly tough when threatened and will kill a shark to protect their friends. That or a bird that migrates to better weather to avoid the cold.” And having heard her answer, I immediately threw away my Halloween shark costume before welcoming Eva to our pod!
