Originally from the scenic Ucluelet, BC, Gio began his journey in medicine as a paramedic, bringing invaluable experience in pre-hospital care to his current role as a resident.

Outside the hospital, Gio is an avid runner who once completed a charity run spanning the length of Vancouver Island. When not running up and down the Island Highway, he also enjoys hitting the golf course and can be found teeing off on courses around Vancouver on most of his days off.

Despite maintaining a 5-year streak on Duolingo learning Spanish, Gio humbly admits that his conversational skills are a work in progress—unlike his skill in providing top-notch patient care. At home, he shares his life with his wife and beloved cat, Anki, named after the flashcard program he has spent more hours on than he’d like to admit since starting medical school.

With a blend of athleticism, curiosity, and a deep commitment to his patients’ well being, Gio embodies the spirit of emergency medicine, ready to tackle any challenge with dedication and enthusiasm
