Matthew hails from Calgary, often affectionately referred to as “Cowtown,” where he was born, raised, and completed both his undergraduate and medical degrees. When Calgary eventually became too familiar, he decided to moooove to the coast for a change of scenery.

Matthew has always been passionate about the outdoors and first discovered his love for emergency care while working as a ski patroller in the Rocky Mountains. This experience ignited his passion for emergency medicine and prehospital care. Along the way, he took up a night job in crisis support, where he developed a growing interest in addiction treatment and helping vulnerable patients.

An outdoor enthusiast at heart, Matthew is an avid cyclist who prefers two wheels to four. When not in the emergency department, he enjoys climbing (where he developed a grip that could bag for days), hiking, and skiing. Excited to be near the ocean, he hopes to flop like a fish and expand his outdoor pursuits to the sea
