Meredith was a simple country girl (born and raised in Vancouver), you might say a cockeyed optimist, who got herself mixed up in the high-stakes game of world diplomacy and international intrigue.
One day while walking along the Vancouver Seawall she recalls – “the sea was angry that day my friends, like an old man trying to send back soup in a deli.. and then someone asked “Is anyone here a marine biologist?” And at that moment she knew she wanted to become a doctor.
After an Undergrad at UBC and a dash of yada, yada, yadaing (traveling), Meredith embraced her Canadian routes and headed to the great limestone city, Canada’s first capital, Kingston (Queen’s) for medical school. The cold and Ontario’s love of Tim Horton’s coffee initially shook her to her core but soon she realized the thrill of roll-up-the-rim and purchased a warmer coat.
Why emergency medicine you ask? One day, many clerkship days ago during her internal medicine block Meredith went to reach for the 4th order sheet, as she ordered the P-ANCA she realized, there had to be another way. What happened to the P-ANCA you ask? It was destroyed. But out of that, a new emergency medicine resident was born.
Why is the Island you ask? Because it is the best place on earth.
