Meet Sophie, our pint-sized powerhouse who grew up on the shores of Georgian Bay in Ontario. She started her academic journey with a Kinesiology degree from Queen’s University (Cha Gheill!), where she fell in love with her PheKin family and Kingston’s dance floors. During the summers, Soph traded textbooks for life jackets and joined the Canadian Coast Guard marine search and rescue in Newfoundland. While she did perform rescues, she spent a suspicious amount of time whale-watching and iceberg-spotting. These adventures on the big red dinghy prepared her for the ED’s wave of patients and ignited her passion for prehospital/transport medicine.
Standing at a whopping 4’11”, Soph might be mistaken for a child, but don’t be fooled — she’s a dynamo with a big personality, a loud voice that echoes through the hospital, and an even larger smile. Whether she’s intubating like a pro or dazzling her colleagues with emergency skills as sharp as her knife collection, Soph proves that great things come in small packages.
With her love of the outdoors, it’s no surprise Soph wanted to call BC home. When she’s not in the ED, you’ll find her hiking trails, hitting the ski slopes, running along the water or captaining any boat she can find. To recharge, she loves lounging in her onesie pajamas, watching period dramas, snacking on anything pickled and enjoying a bubble bath after a long day. With her boundless energy and infectious enthusiasm, Sophie is thrilled to join the EM family and make a positive impact on her patients. She’s a mighty force, ready to bring her A-game to every shift and keep everyone smiling along the way!
