Chelsey was born and raised in Toronto where she first started turning heads as a pediatric figure skater in Degrassi alongside her co-star, Drake. Now, she’s better known as “DJ penichillin” after her years in Montreal. When she’s not turning up pressor drips in the ED, you can find her producing music that’s almost as life-saving as her norepi skills.
Chelsey’s talent isn’t just limited to medicine and music; she can also win over the affection of a four-legged furry friend with ease. Just ask Hendricks, her 75lb lap dog, or all the dogs she pets on her way to a shift.
Outside the ED, she loves a good video gaming session or trying new hobbies like cardistry and candle making. Her gaming skill set is almost as impressive as her ability to wield an ultrasound probe. Despite identifying as an indoor girlie, Chelsey fell in love with the mountains while completing medical school in Alberta. Considering that her favourite hike used to be the CN Tower, she’s stoked to explore all that BC has to offer. Just don’t get her started on her irrational fear of bears, bees and sharks – the only thing that sends her heart racing faster than a code blue.
Chelsey is absolutely thrilled to be part of the UBC residency cohort, where warmth and camaraderie greet her at every turn. She can’t wait to spend the next five years with her co-residents, discovering the unexpected both inside and outside of the hospital walls.
