Foster Wynne, Interior Site

Born and raised in the BC Interior, Foster is excited to be back home for residency. Having never been able to settle on a single passion in life, he found Emergency Medicine to be the perfect specialty, combining broad medical knowledge, diverse procedural skills, teamwork, and the opportunity to care for patients in unpredictable environments.

Foster grew up in Lac Le Jeune, just outside of Kamloops, where he spent his childhood balancing team sports with mountain biking, Nordic skiing, fly fishing, and exploring the outdoors. Before medical school, he completed three years of undergraduate studies at Thompson Rivers University while volunteering as a search and rescue team member, an experience that sparked his interest in EM and caring for patients in remote settings.

During medical school at UBC, Foster embraced every opportunity to stay active outside the classroom. He competed with the UBC Nordic Ski Team, worked as a wildland firefighter in Revelstoke, and developed a slight obsession with wing foiling—an addiction he fully intends to pass along to his co-residents. He also discovered a passion for mountain medicine through research with North Shore Rescue and a month of training at the International Mountain Medicine Center in New Mexico, an interest he hopes to continue developing throughout residency.

When he’s not in the ED, you’ll likely find Foster chasing wind on Okanagan Lake, mountain biking at Gillard, skiing at Telemark, planning his next surf trip or splitboarding adventure, or doing just about anything outdoors with his partner, family, and friends.
