Jasmine Lam, Vancouver Island Site

Jasmine was born in Ontario but was raised in arguably the best arm of BC, Salmon Arm. She attended Queen’s University for both undergrad and medical school where she met her now fiancé, Rickey. Unfortunately, she never completed her bachelor’s degree but is thankful to have survived medical school (though there certainly were some close calls) as she worried about remaining degreeless. Luckily, she graduated and escaped the sweltering heat of Ontario to continue her training and find respite in the temperate city of Victoria, BC. Needless to say, Jasmine (and her two cats) welcomed the change.

Jasmine is passionate about simulation, EDI initiatives, and advocacy surrounding SA/DV but has also been working hard to embrace the Emergency Medicine stereotype. She has started biking to work, top roping with friends, and exploring all the microbreweries Victoria has to offer. Currently, she hopes to one day become average at at least of one of these activities. Ultimately, Jasmine’s favourite hobby centres around niche stationery finds. If it isn’t functional, aesthetic and somewhat impractical, you’ll never catch her using it.

When asked which tree she most prefers, she replied “I like Arbutus trees since, fun fact, they’re one of the only native broadleaf evergreen trees in Canada and found most abundant on Vancouver Island. Much like the trees, I too hope one day to be considered a local. Also, who doesn’t like saying Ar-byoo-tuhs?”
