Julia Robertson, Interior Site

Meet Julia Robertson. Not to be confused with Julia Roberts (as they often are with their dazzling smiles and movie star charisma) *authorship of this bio remains confidential* – was born and raised in Spruce Grove, Alberta. It was here that she developed her love of sports. Due to a natural lack of coordination she went on to benchwarmer much of her junior high life. Her greatest athletic achievement: serving 25 straight serves in a junior high volleyball game, ending the match 25-0. This led her to eventually playing university intramurals at very sub-par level all while completing sciences at the University of MacEwan in Edmonton.

Thankfully, her athleticism eventually improved and her joy of sports never wavered as she still loves doing a variety of sports including running half marathons, working out, rock climbing, basketball, volleyball, downhill/cross country skiing, golf, and road cycling. (With a drive of 250 yards she’s not half bad at a few of these now.)

Julia likes to work hard and play hard – one of the reasons she was drawn to emergency medicine. While completing her undergrad she was looking for a job with maximal time off. She thus started her own small business where she eventually managed and performed landscape maintenance for seven commercial properties in the Edmonton area…all while using her Dad’s lawn mower/equipment…for free – best business model ever!

After undergrad she wanted to do something she wouldn’t be able to do after getting into medical school; sleep consistently for 8-9 hours every night and teach English in Tokyo Japan. She only knows ちょっと “chotto” Japanese and sometimes feels like she barely knows English, so safe to say those kids walked out with some very questionable pronunciations but reportedly had a good time.

Julia completed medical school at the University of Calgary and now looks forward to the adventure of emergency medicine training in Kelowna with her legendary co-residents. Above all else, Julia gets joy from relationships with the people in her life. She is passionate about laughing hard every day, putting Mio in any drinking water available to her, fostering equity, diversity and inclusion in the world around her, and becoming a caring and competent physician.
